The Light of the Shore
For Woodwind Quartet
In the summer of 2019, I was tasked with writing a piece in under four days for an upcoming concert. Though the concert never came to fruition, I was still excited to work in such a short timeline. I premiered it instead on Dec. 3rd, 2019 and the musicians did a spectacular job!
This woodwind quartet is inspired by the ancient festival of the Summer Solstice called "Alban Hefin," roughly translated to "The Light of the Shore." For the Druids, the Summer Solstice was a time of magic and rebirth. This piece was written to capture the feelings of excitement during this mystic celebration. I hope you all enjoy!
